(First, I should say that I love this book so much that I may sound like an infomercial and yet I DO NOT know the author and found it on a random Google search.)

This book changed my PMS. I have been aware of my PMS for 20 years and have tried everything from adzuki beans to progesterone cream to exercise and everything in between. Nothing really works although exercise helps the most. I eat a really clean diet and value my hormonal wisdom for its gifts and blessings–dark and light. But still. No one wants to feel irritable, bloated, cranky. At 42, and for my New Year's resolution this year, I vowed to fix it. I did a Google search and found this book. I read it in a week and have since listened to it and acted on Lauren's amazing, intelligent advice and counsel–eating high fat diet of coconut oil, butter, etc. Taking Epsom salt baths. Eating carrot every day and an apple. And so many more bits of wisdom. Actually, her book really shocked me out of the "low fat is the ONLY way to eat" mentality that has plagued our culture for my whole adult life. I felt rather duped, in a way, by the cultural wisdom we have inherited and live din recent decades. Instead, this book takes me exactly to my grandmother's wisdom that always made me roll my eyes, "you should eat some liver...you need more read meat...etc." My grandmother was completely right and so is Lauren. I love this book and it has helped heal and eliminate my PMS massively. It isn't gone...just way, way less. This month (I'm 5 months into the process of the book) I was actually surprised that I got my period (even though my periods are clockwork 29 days)...I can't tell you how long it has been since I was surprised by my period. Normally, I'm in agony waiting for it–counting the clock– to put me out of my misery. GET THIS BOOK! Read it. Live it. It will help you.

Good information though I wondered if it could apply to a broad age range. Then in ch. 10 Lauran specifically addresses this thought in stating the lifestyle & dietary changes are for any of us whether just starting menstruation or approaching menopause. I would recommend this to many!
I stumbled across this book while searching the web, trying to make sense of what is happening to me and my body....UGH! I am so grateful to have found a compiled source of information to which I can refer. Some of the recommendations I have heard before so I appreciate the confirmation. Relatively easy to implement changes that will make a difference to my and my entire family, including my pre-teen daughter!
This book cuts straight to the chase and tells you exactly what you need to know to start rebalancing hormones. As I read this book, I had so many Ah-ha moments and took so many notes. My only negative is that it's not available as a physical book. Thanks so much for this empowering information and guide.
I gave it a 2 because it didn't supply with foods that will START helping you heal. Gave good information of what your hormones need to regulate as in a good ratio of healthy fats, protein(animal), and safe carbs such as squashes. She is a believer in eggs but what if your allergic or sensitive to eggs?..When you have poor digestion(sensitive intestines) everything will go wrong even if you are eating absolutely clean. She tells why you are experiencing pms and nutrients you need, but when you have poor digestion, healthy foods(ex. Raw carrots) can actually irritate your intestines. What foods are safe for irritated gut..so the gut can heal and then you can start feeling the awesome benefits of raw carrots......
Lauren's writing is a godsend. Her book is well written and all of her recommendations are truly holistic. This book finally helped ease my pain level 10 PMS pain. Liver, bone broth and sea salt all the way!!

For anyone looking to naturally balance their hormones, this is a good read. There are a few contradicting statements and the material can be overwhelming so I suggest reading it all and applying some of it. In one part they tell you not to drink too much water and to get it from fruits and vegetables. In the very next paragraph it talks about examining a "strong" culture that didn't eat many fruits or vegetables. Pieces of information like that overwhelm and confuse me. So again, it's a good read but I wouldn't take everything it says to be 100% the way to do it.
The nutritional information and dietary recommendations in this book have been very helpful in reducing severe PMS and improving my physical (and emotional) well-being. While I did not follow all of her recommendations, I can summarize what I have and have not done here.

Here is my program based on her recommendations
- Organic fruits and vegetables
- No grains except for white rice and quinoa
- Rare, small servings of beans, legumes, nuts, and seeds
- Raw dairy ONLY (not pasteurized)
- Organic, wild caught, grass-fed, and cage-free (or free range) meats ONLY
- Low-stress exercises like yoga and walking
- Daily vinegar tonic
- Daily fermented drinks (kombucha)
- Daily probiotic
- Heated cooking only with coconut oil, butter, and ghee (sometimes I cheat and use extra virgin olive oil)
- Raw honey, coconut sugar, and maple syrup ONLY (No cane sugar, beet sugar, agave syrup, or corn syrup)
- No soy
- No smoking or alcohol

Anyone who has read the books knows that she makes more recommendations than what I am following. Even in spite of this fact, I have still received great benefit from the recommendations I have followed. I have been doing this for three full cycles and my PMS has become much more manageable. In fact, my family didn't even notice this month! By now I am usually a sobbing mess, and thanks to Lauren I'm actually doing alright.
